I have lived in Los Angeles all of my life and, though I find the tours interesting, would not go on one myself. There are so many positive things to see in Los Angeles including Downtown, the Observatory, etc.

The idea for these tours is probably stolen from the favela tours of Rio. Like those tours, it’s exploitative and the worst kind of tourism. Totally reprehensible, at least from the tourist perspective. From the toured upon perspective, it’s more complicated given their role in creating these tours. Thanks for reporting on it.
