The ozone layer could be affected by the growing interest in rockets and space tourism, according to a study published in 2023 in the Journal of the Royal Society of New Zealand. "Gases and particulates are emitted by rockets directly into the middle and upper atmosphere, where the protective ozone layer resides," the study reports.
