What made you start this podcast?

I was/am my core audience. I was looking for a podcast that gave not just theory but practical ideas that I can take away from the episode(s) and put into action right away.

Starting with small ideas that could be leveraged instantly to larger ones that could take some time but could still be done on a small scale, small budget and within a one man (or woman) operation.

I wanted a podcast for my underdogs and dark horses that knew they could win, even while everyone else around them doubted them.

What have you learned about your subject thanks to this podcast?

Wow – this answer could fill a book (which I am in fact writing lol).

I have learned the ins and outs of not just digital marketing (which I have been into for far longer than most know), but how marketing, digital or otherwise, is a fluid communication with your audience.

One of the magic keys, for me, is to stop thinking about it as “How do I create a message that will get them to buy?” which is very self centered.

Instead flip it on its ear and create messaging that gives “Here’s how you can have what you dream, desire and deserve…” then give it to them. Lock stock and barrel.

90+% wont take action, but a small percent will and they will keep returning to get that next gem.

And an even larger percent will raise their hand and ask “Can you help me do that thing you talked about?” and of course that’s what I am here to do.

What has your experience of podcasting been? What do you love / hate about the process?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the process.

I love gaining and sharing knowledge. I love interviewing people from across the spectrum of life and distilling that info into something the audience can learn from.

I love the feedback, positive and negative. I have been lucky in that I haven’t generated any real haters but those that have had less than positive opinions have offered me an opportunity to re-look at an episode or way I presented something. A bit of internal reflection you might say.

I love how it’s taught me… about ME… an entrepreneurship podcast is probably one of the best self help programs anyone can step into. As long as they step into it fully.

Hate? Hmm… well I think the only thing I find myself hating about the process is those people who just want to come on the show to pitch their product. The get so laser focused on that that they forget to deliver the value to the audience that would make them want to check out their stuff…

If someone wants to start listening to your podcast, which episode would you recommend they start with? Why?

Digital Marketing For Beginners – What is it.

As I look around the web, I keep noticing a common question: “what is digital marketing”. There are a few, let say misguided attempts to answer that question, many of which lead to “buy my stuff” options to learn more.

So I sat down and mapped out 5-6 episodes that take you through a high level look at digital marketing and what it is, then breaking each part of that down into individual episodes.

This means you can learn more about each and start to see how they all fit together and form an interlocking web of answers for your audience that lead them back to you to tap you on your shoulder.

It’s all plain speak and I enter with the assumption you know nothing. But if you do then its a great reminder of “hey did you forget about this little, but important, piece?”.
