In 2022, many artists have released great songs and some of them have made history with record views and sales. For you, many of these lyrics have become part of your life — anchored to the experiences you have had this year.

Everyone has different musical tastes, so deciding on a couple of songs for this year and labeling them as the best is difficult. However, we have made a list with the songs that will probably bring you many memories and help you start 2023 so you can continue creating fun memories of love, hope and learning.

Lift Me Up, Rihanna

Ri returns with this song for the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack. The powerful and versatile single moves between sadness, hope, grief, love and a soothing calm that fills the soul, as only Rihanna’s voice can. A great tribute to Chadwick Boseman.

Unholy, Sam Smith & Kim Petras

A sensual, lustful and provocative song about the forbidden fruit. It has been at the top of the charts and remains a favorite on the dance floor. This commercial hit is also a party anthem.

Cold Heart, Elton John y Dua Lipa

Even though this song was released in 2021 it has been playing throughout 2022 (and will continue through 2023). Cold Heart has been a massive hit reaching the top of music charts in a number of countries.

This is a brilliant mix of four of John’s songs and pays tribute to the artist, who has recently announced his retirement from the stage.

Bam Bam, Camila Cabello

The collaboration with Ed Sheeran sounds good even when you’re doing the most mundane activities. It’s one of those songs that the more you listen to it, the more you want to keep listening to it. It talks about getting back on your feet (and dancing) after being knocked down. Así es la vida (That’s just life, baby).

Te felicito, Shakira

A few weeks ago, the artist released a song inspired by her relationship breakup: Monotonía already has more than 100 million views on YouTube. But a few months earlier she had released another hit single, which also talks about infidelity.

Both have been at the top of the music charts, proving that Shakira had an intense year, but she knows how to bounce back from the falls and help us keep dancing through life.

Happy New Year, Let’s Eat Grandma

A hymn to friendship as you mourn what you have lost during the year. An excellent song to welcome the new year and have a little faith in what is to come.

Fake as Fu@k, Red Hot Chili Peppers

With the band’s classic sound (but going much further), this single talks about the state of society. Many people are calling it the best song on the album, with a tempo change that makes everyone move out of their seats.

Sweet Nothing, Taylor Swift

A sweet song about the tranquility of being with the right person while the world outside is in chaos. The lyrics show a more mature relationship where there is no angst about love not being reciprocated and there is only peace, warmth and support.

FNF, Glorilla

A hymn for single women. With a boisterous and catchy beat, rapper Glorilla delivers a song of breakups and female friendship.

About Damn Time, Lizzo

This single was a preview of Lizzo’s new album. The song went viral, being used in many TikTok videos in the last months. Not only is it a good beat for social media, but it is also one to master on the dancefloor.

Abcdefu, GAYLE

This is another one of those songs that you’ve heard all year long, all over the place, and you can’t get it out of your head.

This cathartic anthem has probably been constantly dedicated by all those scorned to their old lovers, all year long.

Hold my hand, Lady Gaga

Gaga does not disappoint with a song created for the soundtrack of Top Gun: Maverick — which was, by the way, one of the best movies of 2022. The artist helped create the music, inspired by the 80s.

Bad Habit, Steve Lacy

These yearning vocals and lyrics were trending for weeks, which is why Bad Habit is all over the charts this year.

The song is part of the singer’s second studio album, which has been applauded for its emotional impact.
