Welcome to the next in the Podcast Showcase series, where we share podcasts with you in the words of the podcasters themselves. This time, we talk to Jeff Does Vegas.
Sum up your podcast in three sentences
Taking you to the world-famous Las Vegas Strip… and beyond! Featuring conversations with entertainers and experts as well as trip reports with reviews of hotels, casinos, restaurants, shows, attractions, and more!
Who is your ideal listener? Who loves your show?
People who love Las Vegas!
What made you start this podcast?
I’m a frequent Vegas visitor (6-8 times per year) and I had friends asking me for tips and tricks. I decided to turn those tips and tricks into a podcast.
Over the course of my visits, I’ve also been able to become friends with a lot of locals who happen to work in the entertainment industry and convinced them to come on and share their stories.
What have you learned about your subject thanks to this podcast?
So many things. Being a frequent visitor to the city, I thought I knew a lot but when I first started, I’d barely scratched the surface. I’ve since dove deep into the history of the city, the science behind how the city runs, covered some of the social issues, and much more.
What has your experience of podcasting been? What do you love / hate about the process?
There are so many things I love about doing my podcast: researching topics, finding guests and prepping the interviews are great. Once I’m able to talk to the guest and start producing the episode it’s fun to get right down to it.
The hardest part can be searching for things to talk about. When you’re covering a somewhat niche topic, you occasionally feel like you’ve talked about everything you can talk about – but then all of the sudden, something hits you and you’re able to put another one together!
If someone wants to start listening to your podcast, which episode would you recommend they start with? Why?
I generally recommend skipping ahead to around episode 8 or 9; the first few episodes were a little rough as I was really just trying to find my flow.
Which other podcasts do you love listening to?
The only other Vegas podcast I really listen to is Vegas Confessions. Otherwise, I listen to Long Shadow, Predators I’ve Caught with Chris Hansen, Something To Wrestle, Smartless, and Disgraceland just to name a few.
If people want to find you online, where can they do so?
