March 2026: The best TV and streaming premieres

This March is shaping up to be an important month for television and streaming, with an exciting list of premieres that promise to take over our screens.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll see a wide range of new series spanning a variety of genres: from the adrenaline-fueled adventure of Young Sherlock and the Brazilian historical thriller Emergência Radioativa (Radioactive Emergency) to the highly anticipated adult comedy Rooster and the disturbing forensic thriller Scarpetta. So here, we present the releases you should devour this month.

But the audiovisual feast doesn’t end there, as some of the most beloved stories return with new seasons. One Piece fans can immerse themselves once again in its vibrant world of live action with its second installment on Netflix, while fans of romantic epics prepare for the final farewell to Outlander, whose final season will be released on Starz.

Here are eight of the best productions premiering in March 2026.

Young Sherlock

Prime Video | Premiere Season | Release date: Wednesday, March 4, 2026

Genre: Mystery, action, adventure

Young Sherlock examines the beginnings of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s beloved detective in a reinvention of the iconic character’s early days. Director Guy Ritchie, who has already made his mark on the character’s universe before, explores a vibrant and adrenaline-fueled origin story.

In this version, we find a 19-year-old Sherlock Holmes who has fallen from grace — a raw, impulsive, and unfiltered young man — who becomes embroiled in a mysterious murder that puts his freedom at stake. This first case will unravel a global conspiracy that will change his destiny forever. Set in 1870s Oxford with forays abroad, the series portrays the adventures of this anarchic teenager before he became the most famous resident of Baker Street.

After a long wait, Young Sherlock will officially premiere on March 4, 2026, exclusively on Prime Video. All episodes of the season will be available that same day in more than 240 countries and territories.

Outlander

Starz | Season: 8 | Release date: Friday, March 6, 2026

Genre: Historical Fantasy, Science Fiction, Epic Romance

Time is running out for the Starz romantic saga. After eight seasons defying fate and time, Claire and Jamie’s love story reaches its inevitable final destination.

Twelve years after that first encounter in 2014, fans are preparing to say goodbye to the unbreakable chemistry between Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan. However, the pain of the ending will be lessened as the prequel Outlander: Blood of My Blood looms on the horizon, ensuring that the Fraser legacy will not be lost in the mists of the past.

Rooster

HBO | Premiere Season | Release date: Sunday, March 8, 2026

Genre: Comedy

Steve Carell’s return to television comedy now has a date and a name. The actor, who defined an era with The Office, takes on the lead role in Rooster, HBO’s new big bet, which premieres on March 8, 2026. The series is the brainchild of two heavyweights in the genre: Bill Lawrence (Ted Lasso, Shrinking) and Matt Tarses (The Goldbergs, Scrubs).

Set in the vibrant and sometimes pretentious environment of a college campus, the plot introduces us to Carell as Greg Russo, a best-selling author nicknamed “Rooster.” The story begins when Greg decides to accept a position as a visiting professor at the college where his adult daughter, Katie (Charly Clive), works. The problem is that his unexpected arrival has no academic purpose: it is a desperate attempt to rescue Katie after a personal crisis threatens to tear her life apart.

Rooster is shaping up to be a scathing satire on “helicopter parenting” in adulthood, and promises to be not only one of the most biting comedies of the year, but also an honest reflection of how difficult it is to let go when your children have grown up.

The first season consists of 10 half-hour episodes that will air weekly on HBO and be available for streaming on Max.

One Piece

Netflix | Season: 2 | Release date: Tuesday, March 10, 2026

Genre: Adventure, Epic Fantasy

The live-action adaptation of One Piece achieved the unthinkable: capturing the irreverent essence and fantastic spirit of Eiichiro Oda’s legendary anime, overcoming even the most staunch skepticism.

After a long wait, the Straw Hat Pirates return on March 10 with their second season, subtitled Into the Grand Line. In this new installment, Iñaki Godoy once again exudes charisma as Monkey D. Luffy while his crew sets sail for the Grand Line, an ocean of mysteries and formidable enemies. The main attraction of this installment will be accompanying the team on their epic quest for Gold Roger’s legendary treasure.

Scarpetta

Prime Video | Premiere Season | Release date: Wednesday, March 11, 2026

Genre: Forensic thriller, crime thriller, procedural drama

The sharpest forensic pathologist in literature finally comes to life on screen with Scarpetta, Prime Video’s new big bet. Developed by Liz Sarnoff and starring Oscar winners Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis, this production promises to be a must-see for lovers of procedural drama. In fact, confidence in the project is such that it has already been greenlit for a second season before its premiere.

The series delves into the universe of Patricia Cornwell, whose literary saga now spans 29 volumes. In this reimagining, Kidman plays Dr. Kay Scarpetta, a brilliant pathologist of Italian descent who uses cutting-edge medical science and her impeccable investigative instincts to solve the most heinous cases.

According to the official synopsis, Scarpetta is: “a chilling crime thriller that unfolds across two timelines. The dual narrative explores Kay Scarpetta’s journey from her beginnings as a chief medical examiner in the late ’90s to her present-day return to her hometown, where she resumes her former position while investigating a grisly murder. As Scarpetta pursues justice, she must navigate complicated relationships, including the fraught dynamic with her sister Dorothy Farinelli, confront long-held professional and personal grudges, and face secrets that threaten to unravel everything she’s built.”

All eight episodes will be available simultaneously from the day of the premiere.

Imperfect Women

Apple TV+ | Premiere Season | Release date: Wednesday, March 18, 2026

Genre: Psychological thriller

Looking for a story to fill the void left by The Undoing and Big Little Lies? Apple TV+ seems to have the answer with Imperfect Women, a psychological thriller that promises to shake up our expectations about female loyalty.

Based on the acclaimed novel by Araminta Hall, the series immerses us in the lives of Mary (Elisabeth Moss), Eleanor (Kerry Washington), and Nancy (Kate Mara), inseparable friends for decades, whose world of privilege crumbles when Nancy is brutally murdered.

This tragic event not only ends a life, but also marks the beginning of a painful social autopsy: Mary and Eleanor discover that the woman they thought they knew was a mirage, forcing them to question the foundations of their own reality. Get ready for a dose of betrayal, guilt, and serious drama.

The first two episodes premiere March 18 on Apple TV+, with a new episode every week through April 29.

Emergência Radioativa (Radioactive Emergency)

Netflix | Premiere Season | Release date: Wednesday, March 18, 2026

Genre: Thriller, Drama, Docudrama

Set to premiere on March 18, Emergência Radioativa (Radioactive Emergency) revisits one of the most shocking nuclear episodes in Brazil’s recent history. It is directed by Fernando Coimbra (O Lobo Atrás da Porta) and stars Johnny Massaro, alongside Paulo Gorgulho, Tuca Andrada, and Bukassa Kabengele.

The six-episode Brazilian Netflix miniseries dramatizes the real nuclear accident that occurred in Goiânia in 1987, considered one of the most serious radiological disasters in history outside of a nuclear power plant. “This story begins when two scrap metal collectors find an abandoned radiotherapy machine in an old hospital and open it out of curiosity. Inside the machine, they find a bright blue powder (cesium-137) which, out of ignorance, they share with family and friends, causing massive contamination in the city,” explained the project’s creators.

Emergência Radioactiva follows the race against time by doctors, scientists, and authorities to identify the sources of radiation, contain the damage, and treat the exposed victims. Unlike Chernobyl, where the failure was a machine, here the disaster occurs because humble people mistake a deadly poison for something “magical” and shiny.

Jo Nesbo’s Detective Hole

Netflix | Premiere Season | Release date: Thursday, March 26, 2026

Genre: Nordic Noir, Psychological Thriller

Based on the best-selling novels by Jo Nesbø, the most successful Norwegian author of all time, the long-awaited adaptation of Harry Hole’s adventures comes to the screen. For the uninitiated, this crime saga began in 1997 with The Bat, now has 13 installments, and finally finds its definitive version in series format.

In this nine-episode production, Tobias Santelmann takes on the challenge of playing the iconic detective from the Oslo Homicide Squad, a complex antihero defined by his brilliant deductive skills and deeply self-destructive nature. Direct, irreverent, and capable of crossing any ethical line to get results, Hole has established himself as the most effective—and tormented—investigator in his country.

According to the official synopsis, in this adaptation, the tension comes not only from the hunt for a brutal serial killer, but also from the fierce battle of wills between the protagonist and his nemesis, the corrupt Tom Waaler (Joel Kinnaman).

This ambitious production is shaping up to be a must-see for Nordic Noir purists. A “dark and twisted” journey through the gloomy streets of Norway that will leave no one indifferent.
