The Sandman
Netflix | Season 2 | Release date: Thursday, July 3
The long-awaited return of the King of Dreams will not only be bigger and bolder but will be something we have never seen on the small screen, at least that is what the creators of the show have promised.
Netflix’s The Sandman, is the television adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s eponymous comic book series published between 1989 and 1996 by DC Comics. The plot centers on the titular Sandman, played by Tom Sturridge, who personifies dreams and is one of the seven Endless, a family of powerful immortal natural forces.
The second and final season focuses on Dream’s quest for forgiveness, both from others and from himself. In a sense, he is compelled to confront old mistakes and conflicted relationships, with the looming question of whether redemption is really feasible or even deserved.
Netflix has announced that it will roll out the new season of the series in a staggered fashion, with the goal of keeping viewers interested throughout July. The first six episodes will premiere on July 3, followed by another five on July 24. A final bonus episode, focusing on Dream’s sister, Death, will premiere on July 31.
Los Gringo Hunters

On July 9, Los Gringo Hunters (The Gringo Hunters), a thrilling new crime drama from Mexico, arrives on Netflix.
Crime never sleeps… and neither does justice. And under that premise, the series Los Gringo Hunters makes its debut. Loosely inspired by an article by Kevin Sieff for The Washington Post, the Netflix series follows an elite squad of Mexican police who capture fugitives, many of them Americans, who cross the border to evade justice.
Adrian Grünberg (Atrapen al gringo), Alonso Alvarez (American Horror Stories), Jimena Montemayor (Mujeres del Alba) and Natalia Beristáin (Familia de Medianoche) are directing, under production by Woo Films and Redrum, in co-production with Imagine Entertainment and in association with The Washington Post.
In essence, the Netflix series Los Gringo Hunters explores the true story of Mexico’s International Liaison Unit, which receives information from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the U.S. Marshals Service, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Interpol, and is tasked with capturing fugitive criminals hiding in Mexican territory.
Too Much
Netflix | Season Premiere | Release date: Thursday, July 10
Eight years after the end of Girls, Lena Dunham returns to television.
Her new series, titled Too Much, stars Meg Stalter (the jewel of Hacks) as Jessica, a thirty-something New Yorker who has recently experienced a painful love breakup.
The official synopsis for Too Much reads:
“Jessica (Stalter) is a New York workaholic in her mid-thirties, reeling from a broken relationship that she thought would last forever and slowly isolating everyone she knows. When every block in New York tells a story of her own bad behaviour, the only solution is to take a job in London, where she plans to live a life of solitude like a Bronte sister. But when she meets Felix (Will Sharpe) – a walking series of red flags – she finds that their unusual connection is impossible to ignore, even as it creates more problems than it solves. Now they have to ask themselves: do Americans and Brits actually speak the same language? From the creator of Girls and the producers of Love Actually, Too Much is an ex-pat rom-com for the disillusioned who wonder if true love is still possible, but sincerely hope that it is.”
Also starring Meg Stalter, Will Sharpe, Michael Zegan, Janicza Bravo, Richard E. Grant, Rita Wilson, Naomi Watts, Andrew Rannells, Rhea Perlman, Emily Ratajkowski and Adwoa Aboah, the series will premiere globally on Netflix on July 10.
Hardcore fans of Girls, Dunham’s acclaimed drama series that revolutionized HBO programming, will surely find similarities between this one and Too Much.
Dexter: Resurrection
Showtime/ Paramount+ | Season Premiere | Release date: Friday, July 11
Dexter returns once again.
As is well known, the character of Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall), also known as The Bay Harbor Butcher, has undergone multiple television reinventions over the years. And, after a series of reboots and spin-offs that have reaped remarkable success, the Showtime network has made the decision to resurrect it for good.
The new title is set chronologically just after the events of Dexter: New Blood, with Dexter miraculously surviving the gunshot wound that caused his death at the end of the series.
The logline for the new series reads:
“Dexter: Resurrection, a continuation of Dexter: New Blood, takes place weeks after Dexter Morgan takes a bullet to the chest from his own son, as he awakens from a coma to find Harrison gone without a trace. Realizing the weight of what he put his son through, Dexter sets out for New York City, determined to find him and make things right. But closure won’t come easy. When Miami Metro’s Angel Batista arrives with questions, Dexter realizes his past is catching up to him fast. As father and son navigate their own darkness in the city that never sleeps, they soon find themselves deeper than they ever imagined – and that the only way out is together.”
David Zayas and James Remar reprise their original roles from the Dexter series, playing the characters of Angel Batista and Harry Morgan, respectively.
Uma Thurman has joined the cast of the series in a regular role, playing Charley, a former special operations officer who has become the head of security for a billionaire named Leon Prater. The talented Peter Dinklage will play Leon Prater, the main antagonist of the first season.
Dexter: Resurrection has been confirmed to premiere on Paramount+ with Showtime on Friday, July 11, with its first two episodes streaming. The series will then make its on-air debut on July 13, with the remaining episodes airing weekly.
