Robin Hood
MGM+ | Season premiere | Release date: Sunday, November 2
Robin Hood returns to screens with MGM+, and we couldn’t be happier. The 10-episode series revives the legendary outlaw of Sherwood Forest and his merry men for contemporary audiences.
Here’s the synopsis:
“In 12th-century England, the Saxons live under the oppressive yoke of Norman power. Among them is Robert de Locksley, son of a forest ranger, whose life is shattered when his family is stripped of their ancestral home and his father is executed by the Sheriff of Nottingham. Gifted with the longbow, Rob turns his grief into rebellion, and his destiny becomes forever intertwined with that of Marian (Lauren McQueen), a noblewoman torn between loyalty to her family and her love for him. As tensions rise, Rob gathers around him a band of outlaws, men and women who have little in common except their Saxon heritage and their desire to fight against tyranny…”
The timeless story of the noble bandit who stole from the rich to give to the poor first appeared in English folklore in the late 13th and early 14th centuries. Since then, it has inspired countless adaptations for both film and television.
“This is a new imagining of the classic tale of the roguish outlaw hero who stole from the rich and gave to the poor. It’s an exciting, smart, sweeping, romantic adventure that brings historical authenticity, psychological depth, and a heightened focus on the relationship between Rob and Marian to the beloved story,” said Michael Wright, director of MGM+.
Robin Hood will premiere with a two-episode special on Sunday, November 2. The rest of the episodes will premiere weekly, until the season finale on Sunday, December 28.
All’s Fair
Hulu | Season premiere | Release date: Tuesday, November 4
Ryan Murphy’s legal drama starring Kim Kardashian focuses on a divorce lawyer who leaves a male-dominated law firm to start her own firm made up exclusively of women. Kardashian is joined by a talented cast, including stars such as Naomi Watts, Niecy Nash, Teyana Taylor, and Sarah Paulson.
In All’s Fair, the complex female protagonists face explosive breakups and scandalous secrets. But, as is always the case with this type of series, some of their biggest battles are not always fought in court, but sometimes within their own ranks.
If you’re a fan of Murphy’s horror series, this will be an interesting departure from his usual content.
Pluribus
Apple TV+ | Season premiere | Release date: Friday, November 7
Pluribus is a new series from Vince Gilligan, creator of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. Here, a virus takes over the world and makes everyone placid and happy, except, it seems, Carol (Rhea Seehorn), a best-selling romance novelist.
The Apple TV+ synopsis is vague, describing it as “a genre-bending original in which the most miserable person on Earth must save the world from happiness.” Admittedly, while the premise isn’t particularly concrete, it has great potential. It’s also worth noting that Seehorn, known for her role as Kim in Better Call Saul, heads the cast, which is a significant advantage.
Speaking to Variety in 2023, Gilligan said, “I wouldn’t call this heavy science fiction, I would call it mild science fiction. But it does have a sci-fi element to it, at its core.” He added, “There’s no crime, and no methamphetamine.”
If you’re looking for more clues, the series title is in Latin, commonly used in the phrase “E Pluribus Unum”, which means “Out of many, one.”
The nine-episode series will have a two-episode premiere; subsequent episodes will air on Fridays through December 26. So now we have something to watch on TV the day after Christmas.
Maxton Hall
Prime Video | Season 2 | Release date: Friday, November 7
The school will reopen its doors in November for the second season of Maxton Hall: The World Between Us.
Directed by Martin Schreier, the German series takes place at a prestigious private school and follows Ruby Bell (Harriet Herbig-Matten) and James Beaufort (Damian Hardung) as they explore the classic tropes of enemies who become lovers.
For the uninitiated, the series is inspired by the trilogy of books by author Mona Kasten. Following the original order of the trilogy, the second season is based on the book Save You.
Here is the official description from Prime Video:
“Those who fly high can also fall low… After their passionate night together in Oxford and her greatest life goal within reach, everything seems to be going perfectly for Ruby (Herbig-Matten). But a stroke of fate in James’ (Hardung) family changes everything, and James himself, of all people, brings her back from cloud nine to a harsh reality. Ruby is devastated. She has never had such strong feelings for anyone as she does for James—and she has never been so hurt by anyone either. She wants her old life back, where no one at Maxton Hall knew her and she wasn’t part of the elitist world of her classmates. But she can’t forget James—especially since he’s doing everything he can to win her back.”
The second season of Maxton Hall will premiere on Friday, November 7, 2025, with its first three episodes. Subsequent episodes will premiere one per week, through November 28.
Last Samurai Standing
Netflix | Season premiere | Release date: Thursday, November 13
“The era of swords has come to an end, but the battle for survival is just beginning.”
Based on the historical fiction novel Ikusagami, written by author Shogo Imamura and illustrated by Katsumi Tatsuzawa, Netflix’s latest Japanese action series Last Samurai Standing has been promoted as a mix between Shōgun and Squid Game, for understandable reasons.
This is a period piece set in Japan in 1878, at the end of the samurai era, and everything indicates that it has the visual detail and action of Shōgun. In it, more than 200 fallen samurai, facing poverty and a new regime that has turned them into relics, are drawn into a violent game called Kodoku.
As in Squid Game, the plot revolves around a competition for survival. According to the official synopsis:
“The story begins in Japan in 1878, 10 years after the glory days of the samurai. Stripped of their identity and status and no longer permitted even to carry swords, the samurai struggle to survive in this new era. As the wealth gap widens and a deadly cholera outbreak spreads, a chance at salvation arrives: an invitation to participate in a tournament for 100 billion yen. The battle begins in Kyoto and ends in Tokyo, but the catch is that only one player will survive. Who will endure the brutal journey, and who is the mastermind behind this mysterious and murderous game?”
Last Samurai Standing premieres November 13 on Netflix
Me late que sí
Netflix | Season premiere | Release date: Friday, November 14
Inspired by real events, the Netflix series Me late que sí is about the scandalous fraud involving lottery draw number 2518 of Mexico’s Melate lottery.
On January 22, 2012, Mexico witnessed one of the most unusual scams ever seen: a group of seven people, made up of officials from Pronósticos para la Asistencia Pública and employees of the company Just Marketing, executed a meticulous plan to illegally steal a prize of 160 million pesos. The key to the fraud lay in the manipulation of the lottery draw video.
Now, Netflix is reviving this story in its upcoming series Me late que sí, which will premiere on November 14.
According to the platform’s official synopsis, “it all starts with an ordinary official who has been obsessed with winning the Melate lottery for years. Convinced of his bad luck, he is about to give up on that fantasy when an urgent need for money gives him a simple idea.”
Directed by Rodrigo Santos and Federico Veiroj, the project follows a classic heist structure, detailing the characters’ plan to manipulate the lottery and walk away with the million-dollar prize. “I like that it’s a proposal that combines the heist with touches of tragicomedy. Here we’ll see how those involved had access to the facilities and almost perfectly faked the lottery procedure,” said Veiroj.
This is the second Mexican production to portray what happened 13 years ago, the first being JM Cravioto’s film Corazonada, released in 2022 on Paramount.
Stranger Things
Netflix | Season 5 | Volume 1 | Release date: Wednesday, November 26
The fifth and final season of one of Netflix’s best series has been a long time coming: it’s been three years since we last visited Hawkins and nine since Hopper, Joyce, Mike, and the rest saw their world turned upside down with the arrival of Eleven.
The final chapter of Stranger Things focuses on the final battle against Vecna and closes the cycle of struggles for the Hawkins gang. The plot revolves around the war to save the city, while delving deeper into the mysteries of the Upside Down and the government’s gruesome laboratory program.
“Scarred by the opening of the Rifts, our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished—his whereabouts and plans unknown. As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming—and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone—the full party—standing together, one last time,” the official synopsis for the season says.
It is clear that Vecna has proven to be the most formidable adversary to date. His plan to destroy Hawkins and the world requires the entire group of friends to work together to defeat him. In this regard, during an interview with Collider, the Duffer brothers explained that the gang’s success will not depend on a single hero, but on the joint collaboration of all of them.
“Will is going to be an important part and the center of attention… of the season… We’re starting to see him mature, really. Which has been a challenge for a number of reasons.”
The fifth season of Stranger Things will premiere in three separate installments. The first four episodes will premiere on Netflix on November 26, the next three will premiere on Christmas Day, and the final episode will premiere on New Year’s Day.
