Podcast Showcase: All the Dirt

All the Dirt podcast

Welcome to the next in the Podcast Showcase series, where we share podcasts with you in the words of the podcasters themselves. This time, we talk to All the Dirt.

Sum up your podcast in three sentences

All The Dirt is a podcast that provides healthy food growing tips to the home gardener, general gardening advice and important discussions around the topics of sustainability and food.

Who is your ideal listener? Who loves your show?

Our ideal listener is anyone interested in plants, gardening and growing food.

What made you start this podcast?

The podcast was started as a means to discuss the many and varied aspects of gardening and provide information and advice to gardeners of all levels. It was also an opportunity to touch on the broader subjects of sustainability and how our food is grown.

What have you learned about your subject thanks to this podcast?

After 45 years of working in the horticultural industry we are still learning every day. The podcast has been an ideal platform for long-form discussion with experts in their field who are passionate and willing to share their wealth of knowledge and advice with our listeners.

What has your experience of podcasting been? What do you love / hate about the process?

As an avid podcast listener and radio garden talk back host with the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Commission) for over 30 years, it seemed a comfortable fit to start a gardening podcast as an opportunity to continue sharing gardening advice and information.

The opportunity to speak with guests and discuss fascinating topics is a sheer delight and an incredible privilege, I love everything about podcasting.

If someone wants to start listening to your podcast, which episode would you recommend they start with? Why?

If someone wanted to start listening to the podcast I would recommend episode 1, only because it covers the wonderful subject on how to grow microgreens and captures the presenters enthusiasm for gardening and the concept of the show. This episode also won the National Horticultural Media Association Award for Best Audio Presentation.

Which other podcasts do you love listening to?

I enjoy listening to podcasts that provide open discussion on current topics including shows such as The Joe Rogan Experience and also podcasts that reflect my other hobbies and interests ie: motorcycles, fishing etc.

If people want to find you online, where can they do so?
