The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

Where to Watch: In Theaters

Release date: Wednesday, April 1

Genre: Animated family comedy

Following the overwhelming success of the first film in 2023, which grossed over $1.3 billion, Nintendo’s most famous heroes return in Super Mario Galaxy: The Movie. In this sequel, Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach embark on an epic adventure that takes them beyond their known world, exploring the far reaches of space across the galaxy.

Inspired by the acclaimed Mario Galaxy video game series, the plot follows our heroes aboard the Comet Observatory. There, they meet Princess Rosalina, who joins them to face Bowser Jr. on his mission to liberate his father. During this space odyssey, Mario and Luigi count on Yoshi’s help, while Peach uncovers a life-changing secret: Rosalina is, in fact, part of her family.

With the introduction of highly anticipated characters and a visual style that pushes the boundaries of what we’ve seen before, this sequel is one of the most promising animated family comedies of 2026.

Outcome

Where to Watch: Apple TV+

Release date: Friday, April 10

Genre: Comedy, crime, drama, mystery, and thriller

The big comedy release for April on Apple TV+ is Outcome, directed by Oscar nominee Jonah Hill and starring Keanu Reeves.

In this satire, Reeves plays Reef Hawk, a beloved Hollywood actor whose stability crumbles when he is blackmailed with a mysterious video from his past. The dilemma forces the protagonist to confront his mistakes and apologize to everyone he’s hurt throughout the ups and downs of his career, all while Hill — who also co-wrote the film — acts as his quirky crisis management attorney.

What really elevates Outcome is its eclectic and impressive supporting cast. The film marks the highly anticipated return to the screen of Cameron Diaz, alongside talents such as Matt Bomer, Laverne Cox, and David Spade. Additionally, the film surprises with special appearances by legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese, model Kaia Gerber, and prominent comedians such as Roy Wood Jr. and Atsuko Okatsuka.

With this stellar ensemble, the film emerges as a biting satire on accountability and the obsession with public image in the modern era.

Balls Up

Where to Watch: Prime Video

Release date: Wednesday, April 15

Genre: Action Comedy, Buddy Movie, Modern Slapstick

Prime Video’s latest offering boasts an unbeatable comedic pedigree.

Directed by Peter Farrelly (Dumb & Dumber, Ricky Stanicky), and featuring the narrative wit of Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese (the screenwriting duo behind the Deadpool saga), Balls Up arrives on Prime Video as a chaotic odyssey. Mark Wahlberg and Paul Walter Hauser star in this irreverent comedy, in which a business trip to Brazil turns into a global disaster right in the middle of the World Cup.

Here is the official synopsis for Balls Up

“In this raunchy, over-the-top comedy, marketing executives Brad (Mark Wahlberg) and Elijah (Paul Walter Hauser)—two marketing executives with more audacity than common sense—manage to sell an unusual sponsorship: the “official condom” of the World Cup in Brazil. What starts as a triumphant business trip turns into a diplomatic nightmare when, after a night of wild partying, they accidentally interrupt the tournament’s grand final. By causing Brazil to lose the championship, they become the most hated men in the country, forcing them to flee from enraged fans, criminals, and authorities in a desperate race for survival.”

Are you ready for the funniest own goal in movie history? Don’t miss the premiere of Balls Up, a comedy that breaks all the rules.

Roommates

Where to Watch: Netflix

Release date: Friday, April 17

Genre: Black Comedy, Coming-of-Age

Sadie Sandler, Adam Sandler’s daughter, takes on her first major leading role in Roommates, the new Netflix comedy that captures the utter chaos of college life.

The plot follows Devon (Sandler), a naive freshman who, in an attempt to fit in, makes the mistake of asking the most popular girl on campus (Chloe East) to be her roommate. What begins as a promise of real friendship soon degenerates into a war of passive aggression and psychological manipulation.

Beyond the laughs, Chandler Levack’s film serves as a raw and honest portrait of toxicity in female friendships, the loss of privacy, and the desperate search for identity in an environment where everyone is trying to reinvent themselves.

The project stands out for its impressive cast, which blends rising stars with comedy legends, including Natasha Lyonne, Nick Kroll, Storm Reid, Sarah Sherman, and Carol Kane, alongside talents such as Josh Segarra, Janeane Garofalo, and Bailee Madison.

Roommates stands out as one of Netflix’s most biting and highly anticipated teen releases this April.
