Welcome to the next in the Podcast Showcase series, where we share podcasts with you in the words of the podcasters themselves. This time, we talk to Midday Musings.
Sum up your podcast in three sentences
The cure to Internet overwhelm. We have cozy conversations about media, history and relationships.
Who is your ideal listener? Who loves your show?
Anyone with two ears and a heart.
What made you start this podcast?
The love of community!
Sharing insights on the stuff we watch and learn is quite rewarding. We both have a theatre background and love having a creative outlet.
We love talking and sharing and learning so this combines all of our favorite things. I also wanted to improve my speaking.
What have you learned about your subject thanks to this podcast?
I’ve learned how popular indie movies are and we’ve doubled down on indie film as a result. I’ve learned a lot about European history, lemurs, astrology, how much people love a good, chaotic story. I’ve learned how relationships really define a workplace.
What has your experience of podcasting been? What do you love / hate about the process?
It’s been great. Very time consuming but so fun.
I love the community and content production and even the editing.
I like less trying to figure out of how to optimize our marketing. Also it’s been hard to decrease the time needed to finish our edits as we release episodes 4 times a week.
If someone wants to start listening to your podcast, which episode would you recommend they start with? Why?
They should start with episode 67 “Matriarchy, Patriarchy and Religion”.
Despite its intense title it’s a very light-hearted exploration of power structures.
Which other podcasts do you love listening to?
Behind the Bastards, Boombox Music Talk, Lawless Ladies, Rainy Days Rabbit Holes.
If people want to find you online, where can they do so?
