Welcome to the next in the Podcast Showcase series, where we share podcasts with you in the words of the podcasters themselves. This time, we talk to The Cashflow Show
Sum up your podcast in three sentences
Come on a fascinating journey with me, Clayton M. Coke, as I delve deep into the minds of successful business owners and entrepreneurs. Through candid and insightful conversations, they’ll reveal their unique paths to success, including the lessons they’ve learned from failures along the way.
Not only that, but you’ll also gain invaluable insights into the books, films, albums, and singles that have shaped and inspired them, leaving you feeling inspired and motivated to take on your own challenges in the world of business.
Who is your ideal listener? Who loves your show?
Business owners and entrepreneurs and anyone who has ever dreamed of having their own business.
What made you start this podcast?
I wanted to tell the unsung stories of entrepreneurs that would never be featured by mainstream media.
In business there is a lot of survivorship bias and that creates an environment where people are encouraged to pontificate their major success but not about the 99 failures it took to reach that success.
The Cashflow Show is a safe space for those revelations and my role as the host is to be the #1 cheerleader of everyone who appears on the show.
What have you learned about your subject thanks to this podcast?
I have learned that business is not something that happens in a linear fashion or in a straight line. Success comes from all angles and there are many turns that entrepreneurs make before they make their final destination and even then they may move on to something else.
It has taught me that failure is not the end of the book; it is just the end of that chapter.
What has your experience of podcasting been? What do you love / hate about the process?
I love podcasting! As a friend of mine likes to say: “It’s a great time to be alive!” I can make a podcast with something I can carry in my pocket and it can reach everyone in the world! As far as I am concerned, that is an amazingly powerful medium which I am pleased to be a part of.
The downsides are that podcasting is going into its “commercial phase” and the true essence of telling stories is giving way to any TV / media personality who wants another income string to their bow.
However, this is the price of progress and ultimately the playing field will level itself out, but be prepared to hear the expression; “I used to do a podcast once!”.
If someone wants to start listening to your podcast, which episode would you recommend they start with? Why?
That’s like asking me which is my favourite child??! I have to pick one and say Episode 40: Joanna Toch
Which other podcasts do you love listening to?
Song Exploder /Tape Notes
