Podcast Showcase: The Worst Idea Of All Time

Podcast

Welcome to the next in our series of Podcast Showcases, where we share podcasts with you in the words of the podcasters themselves. This time, we talk to The Worst Idea Of All Time

Sum up your podcast in three sentences

Tim and Guy are two comedians from New Zealand who damage their brains with movies for your entertainment. They watched each of the following movies, once a week, every week for a full year; Grown Ups 2, Sex and The City 2, WE ARE YOUR FRIENDS, Sex and The City. Now they’re watching every one of the Emmanuelle soft-core porn movies from the 1970s, 80, 90s and early 00s.

Who is your ideal listener? Who loves your show?

Anyone who wants to escape the world and have a laugh at our expense. Our listeners are a super diverse bunch. We aim to be as inclusive, silly and friendly as possible – all while destroying our own mental well-being for the sake of entertainment!

What made you start this podcast?

Guy used to host a live, late night TV show which Tim appeared on regularly to review public toilets. When the show ended, the pair decided they wanted to keep working together so decided on a podcast and this dumb idea came tumbling out of their brains immediately!

What have you learned about your subject thanks to this podcast?

That movies are supposed to be enjoyed once, twice or maybe thrice. Not 52 times inside of one calendar year.

TWIoATWhat has your experience of podcasting been? What do you love / hate about the process?

Our experience of the podcast has been a combination of relationship building, psychologically damaging and beautifully engaging for our expanding global audience of fans. We hate watching the movies but we love hanging out together and doing the podcast.

If someone wants to start listening to your podcast, which episode would you recommend they start with? Why?

Start at ep one of any given season. Starting at season one is totally optional but generally, beginning at the start of a season journey is a more rewarding experience.

Which other podcasts do you love listening to?

My Brother, My Brother and Me; Comedy Bang Bang; Boners of The Heart and Threedom
