Podcast Showcase: Leeds Business Podcast

Leeds

Welcome to the next in the Podcast Showcase series, where we share podcasts with you in the words of the podcasters themselves. This time, we talk to Leeds Business Podcast.

Sum up your podcast in three sentences

Interviewing inspiring, fascinating and interesting Leeds business owners and getting them to share their unique personal business journey story; all the ups and downs, the successes and failures, all the lessons learnt and the battle scars earnt.

Who is your ideal listener? Who loves your show?

SME business owners, and wannabe business owners.

What made you start this podcast?

I love listening to people’s business journeys and their ups and downs (plus I’ve guested on 60+ podcasts too). And the opportunity to expand my business network in my home town, whilst learning from some excellent business people.

Long term, I hope that it will create work for my business coaching.

What have you learned about your subject thanks to this podcast?

People have fascinating business back stories, and most businesses have an element of luck/ good fortune in their backstory and things don’t go according to the original plan… some don’t even have a plan!

Common themes include company culture, business strategy and the support required when running a business.

What has your experience of podcasting been? What do you love / hate about the process?

I love the interaction with my guests and so far, the fun of getting the whole thing together and published. I use Captivate and Riverside and so far both have been excellent.

Finding listeners is a long hard drag, consistently feeling you have to bang the drum…. I’m hoping listener recommendations and return guests make this easier as time goes by.

If someone wants to start listening to your podcast, which episode would you recommend they start with? Why?

The Biskery, episode 2. Two hugely inspirational women who turned a hobby into a business, whilst keeping their ‘why’ intact and building a great ‘working-mum friendly’ company.

Which other podcasts do you love listening to?

The Square Ball, Jonathan Jay business buying, Acquisitions Anonymous

If people want to find you online, where can they do so?
