Alien: Earth

Hulu/  FX | Season 1 | Release date: Friday, August 15

The blockbuster franchise that debuted in the 1970s is expanding again with the television series Alien: Earth, and we can’t wait!

Set in the year 2120, Alien: Earth is a prequel to the original 1979 film directed by Ridley Scott. This series, unlike the films, takes place on Earth and depicts humanity’s first failed attempts to weaponize the xenomorphs into weapons of destruction.

FX’s official tagline notes the following:

“When a mysterious space vessel crash-lands on Earth, a young woman (Sydney Chandler) and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat.”

Described as a sci-fi/horror series, Hulu and FX’s latest offering is directed by Noah Hawley, the acclaimed creator of Fargo and Legion, and has Ridley Scott executive producing. Whether it hits the mark or not, the latest entry in the Alien universe is sure to be a must-see for fans of the genre.

Alien: Earth premieres with two episodes, August 12 on Hulu and FX in the U.S. In European territories, the release will take place on August 13.

Betty, la Fea: La Historia Continua

Prime Video | Season 2 | Release date: Friday, August 15

After breaking a world record with the largest global audience for a Latin American title in Prime Video’s history, Betty la Fea: La historia continua (Betty la Fea, the Story Continues) is back to the joy of the hundreds of fans of the charming Beatriz Pinzón Solano.

The second season hits the streamer on August 15, 2025, with the stellar return of Ana María Orozco and Jorge Enrique Abello along with most of the original cast.

Produced by RCN Studios and directed by Mauricio Cruz Fortunato, Betty, la Fea: La Historia Continua returns us to Ecomoda and the lives of Beatriz Pinzón Solano and Armando Mendoza twenty years after the original story. Just a week after its premiere, the sequel to Betty, la Fea became the most watched series or movie of all time on Prime Video in Colombia, and got a second season.

The new installment picks up right where the first one left off. Betty faces decisions that profoundly impact her present and that of her family. She tries to rebuild her relationship with her daughter Mila while dealing with the growing emotional distance with Armando. New secrets will come to light, and test everything she thought she had under control.

“We are no longer questioning whether Betty is ugly or not,” explained Ana Maria Orozco. “We are focusing more on the person, on self-love. Betty is not afraid to feel vulnerable or question who she has been over these past years. It’s about her process of finding herself again.”

Betty, la Fea: La Historia Continua continues to be a romantic tale. But the original fairy tale has evolved more complex real-life situations and in doing so has hit the mark.

Rather than simply cashing in on nostalgia, the series has found a way to age with its audience by addressing the more complex realities of life.
